Wholesale Power Markets (2021/9/1)

We collect hourly power prices on most of the existing wholesale power markets (i.e., mostly OECD countries). Except for Europe, all prices are converted into USD. Hourly day-ahead prices are shown over 3 days after applying a 24-hour moving average (MA) to the last 4 days (and dropping 23 hours). The arithmetic average gives us daily prices which are shown over 6 weeks after applying a 1-week MA. The arithmetic average gives us monthly prices shown over a decade after applying a 12-months MA.

Carbon allowances (2021/6/1)

The daily price of EUA futures is retrieved from ECX, now a part of ICE, at Stooq. Using the corresponding trading volumes, we can compute a volume weighted daily price. The smoothed price curves for the three phase of the ETS schemes are shown below.

For volume, we use the yearly reports from the defunct PointCarbon consultancy, issues of Tendance Carbone and volumes from ECX. The curve is smoothed and shown in logarithmic scale for enhanced visualization.
